We were commissioned to produce and develop a design proposal aimed at obtaining an outline planning scheme. The site, located in Silvertown to the East of the City of London, presented an opportunity to explore various options and solutions due to its relatively narrow rectilinear shape.
In terms of context, the site is surrounded by several notable local and international landmarks, including The River Thames, London City Airport, The Excel Centre, The Thames Barrier, and The London Docklands financial district. Additionally, the site is bordered on all sides by a light industrial park as well as modern and traditional residential units.
The design concept was realised by introducing an innovative, tiered, 24-storey structure that incorporates a sky bar to capitalise on the surrounding views, particularly the landing and take-off of private and commercial aircrafts.
The proposed 300-bed hotel includes Meeting Rooms, IT Study Centers, Restaurants, a Casino, Gym, Spa, and other ancillary spaces. These amenities are strategically organised to ensure not only vibrant use but also to deliver an exceptional experience for the users on numerous occasions.
